Get rid of all the things that you don't have to have by having a yard sale.  If you haven't used something within a year, trash it.  If you don't, you'll just end up with exactly the same clutter in the new home as you had in the one you're leaving behind.  Besides, the more stuff you get rid of, the less time you'll will need to pack and move.  Besides that relocating is expensive, and there is nothing at all wrong with bringing in several extra dollars when possible. 

Make A Relocation Checklist 
It's going to help you to remember things easier by jotting them down in checklists as they come along.  A relocation checklist can pose as a shopping list, that can remind you of the issues that you should consider. 

Don't Over Pack 
Moving is exhausting as it is, so don't make it any worse by packing your moving van with too much excess weight.  For those who pack lightly, it could cost you a little more footwork, but your body may appreciate it when you're done.
